A Clinic That Breathes: A Model for Medical Clinics That Actually Works has just been released — a book that reimagines how primary care in Canada can finally become sustainable.

This book is not a technical manual — it’s a story. Through the journey of two physicians, readers will see firsthand how a broken, exhausting model of primary care can be transformed into something sustainable, scalable, and life-giving. At the heart of the solution is the integration of Clinical Paramedics into medical offices — a proven workforce that has existed in Canada for decades, but until now has not been fully utilized in primary healthcare.

Written for physicians, policymakers, paramedics, and everyday Canadians, A Clinic That Breathes is designed to start a national conversation. It shows how we can improve access to care, reduce physician burnout, and build clinics that function as assets — all without new legislation, new money, or new people.

This is exciting news because it means the solutions we need already exist. What’s missing is the structure to put them in place. That’s what this book offers: a clear, practical model that can help our healthcare system finally catch its breath.

The Author

André, a 30-year Canadian Armed Forces veteran and entrepreneur, brings a methodical military mindset to the business world. As the founder of the award-winning Watercycles Energy Recovery Inc., he pioneered Drain Water Heat Recovery (DWHR) systems and contributed to the development of CSA standards for DWHR.

His most recent book, A Clinic That Breathes: A Model for Medical Clinics That Actually Works, introduces a groundbreaking yet practical model for transforming Canadian primary care by integrating Clinical Paramedics into clinics. This book extends the themes first explored in his earlier work, Puzzle Pieces to Success: Building the Business Blueprint, which provided entrepreneurs and clinic owners with strategies for creating structured, transferable, and asset-based businesses. Together, the two books form a blueprint for both business and healthcare transformation — showing how sustainable systems can restore balance, value, and purpose.

When not writing or building, André and his wife Lauren raise their six children on their farm near Balgonie, Saskatchewan, embodying values of loyalty, trust, discipline, and lifelong learning.
